Cidade Imaginada is a work published by the Athos Bulcão Foundation in 1994, featuring a plastic-poetic essay by Wlademir Dias-Pino.

The multiple references to Brasília are, in reality, reverences to the country's flagship city, where utopia and the imaginary are presented in plurivocal articulations, for the realization of ideas/ideals, an expression of human production, in the different areas of knowledge.

Wlademir selected phrases, recomposed photographs to translate them into images that characterize the artist's work, dedicated to the conception of a pre-defined theme. Bringing together texts in prose and verse, connected to illustrations in perfect harmony, is a lesson from a master.

Daniel Pellegrin's work, presented in this exhibition, is a tribute to the Cuiabanized artist from Rio de Janeiro, a free dialogue between the cultural values of his native land and those of the capital of Mato Grosso that welcomed Wlademir for many years.

The synthesis of the phrases selected for the Imagined City, for example:

“Nature changes without leaving its place”

“All action without abstraction does not reach the universal”

“And what came from the imposition of verticality”,

They resonate in Daniel's words, among them:

“On the wall, a curious balance”

“The lap as support. Affection of existence itself”

“Distance that makes framing possible”

Subverted orderings, in the immutable change of nature; in the universal reading of the abstract; the verticalization of large metropolises - an undeniable image in action - the result of necessity or the imposition of mechanically assimilated paradigms?

On the other side, there is an impertinent division, in the choice of balance on the wall; distance allows for framing, and photography has taught man how to approach later planes, eliminating earlier ones, as the artists of Impressionism demonstrated. May there always be a lap, at the right time, as a support...

“Me as an extension of the other” is a natural confession from a disciple who has reflected on the multiple productions of the artist, whom he thanks for his enriched learning.

If Cidade Imaginada is composed in black and white, Daniel selected colors to highlight, with measured intensity, the shapes of the letters and figures created, for the most part, by the absence of the line, but with precise mastery of the technique, to give a special treatment to the photograph, a set of pigments that requires distance for the perception and reading of the image.

The book conceived by Wlademir Dias-Pino can be enjoyed as a sequence of independent pages; fragments of space and time that construct the metropolis. Daniel Pellegrim's work can be viewed, frame by frame, in the sequence chosen by the reader who, at the end, may have the feeling of having completed the tour, but the set of works presents (re)readings provided by new paths and questions.

Cidade Imaginada é uma obra publicada pela Fundação Athos Bulcão, em 1994, que apresenta ensaio plástico-poético de Wlademir Dias-Pino.

As múltiplas referências à Brasília são, na realidade, reverências à cidade-caput do país, onde a utopia e o imaginário apresentam-se em articulações plurívocas, para a concretização das idéias/ideais, expressão da produção humana, nas diferentes áreas do conhecimento.

Wlademir selecionou frases, recompôs fotografias, para traduzi-las em imagens que caracterizam o trabalho do artista, dedicado à concepção de um tema pré-definido. Reunir textos em prosa e verso, conectados às ilustrações em perfeita sintonia, é lição de um mestre.

O trabalho de Daniel Pellegrin, apresentado nessa mostra, é um tributo ao artista carioca cuiabanizado, diálogo livre entre os valores culturais da terra de origem e os da capital mato-grossense que recebeu Wlademir, por longos anos.

Ordenações subvertidas, na mudança imutável da natureza; na leitura universal do abstrato; a verticalização das grandes metrópoles - incontestável imagem em ação - fruto da necessidade ou imposição de paradigmas, mecanicamente, assimilados?

Em outra face, há uma divisão impertinente, na opção do equilíbrio sobre o muro; a distância permite o enquadramento, e a fotografia ensinou ao homem a aproximação de planos posteriores, eliminando os anteriores, como demonstraram os artistas do Impressionismo. Que haja, sempre, um colo, na hora certa, como suporte...

“Eu como extensão do outro” é uma confissão natural do discípulo que refletiu sobre a múltipla produção do artista, a quem agradece pelo enriquecido aprendizado.

Se a Cidade Imaginada é composta em preto e branco, Daniel selecionou cores para ressaltar, com intensidade comedida, as formas das letras e das figuras criadas, em maioria, pela ausência da linha, mas com domínio preciso da técnica, para dar um tratamento especial à fotografia, conjunto de pigmentos que exige distanciamento para a percepção e leitura da imagem.

O livro concebido por Wlademir Dias-Pino pode ser fruído como uma sequência de páginas independentes; fragmentos do espaço e do tempo, que constroem a metrópole. A obra de Daniel Pellegrim pode ser visualisada, quadro a quadro, na seqüência escolhida pelo leitor que, ao final, pode ter a sensação do passeio concluído, porém, o conjunto das obras se apresenta (re)leituras proporcionadas por novos percursos e questionamentos.
